Core idea
When the divisor is known, your task is to find the missing factor quickly and then prove it.
For early exact division:
- Read the dividend clearly.
- Ask what factor of the divisor fits exactly.
- Name the quotient.
- Reverse the operation to verify it.
Worked example: 24 ÷ 6
- Start from 24.
- Ask: what times 6 gives 24?
- The answer is 4.
- Verify it at once: 4 × 6 = 24.
Worked example: 36 ÷ 9
- Start from 36.
- Ask: what times 9 gives 36?
- The quotient is 4.
- Check again: 4 × 9 = 36.
Even though both examples end with 4, the divisor changes the reasoning rhythm. That is why it helps to say the fact family fully.
